Hi man. You might want to try Binaural Beats. They are basically inexpensive. It's an Mp3 file that you can listen anywhere (use headphones) at home or ipod. Quickly explained.. you'll hear different frequencies on each ear.. those 2 freqs will create a 3rd one in your brain. That 3rd one will be responsible to create a shift in your brain.. for the best of course. They are especially designed to target different "problems" (stress, more creativity, confidence, etc).
Anyways, just an option to consider. Good Luck buddy.. just remember.. who gives a @# of what people think.
References :
http://bettermind.info

If you want to overcome, then you should analyze how such anxiety has entered. Anxiety enters when we give gaps like illegitimate desires. The gap may become wider, if we get angry, once our desire is not fulfilled. These two, I mean desire and anger, should be plugged, and such entry points give room for anxiety to enter.

Build self image by nurturing good habits and building strong moral behavior.
References :
0wn

I too have SAD, so I know it's more than not knowing what to say, but being afraid of what to say.

The only way to rid of a fear is to face is head on. You need to gather up everything you have and go to a restaurant by yourself, or even better with some friends or family you haven't seen in a while.

While there, no matter how hard it may be, smile at the host, be chatty with the person serving you, and laugh and have a great time with the people accompanying you or even someone just sitting near you.
Don't let your fear overtake your life.

I know this is not the answer you're looking for, but it seems to be the only answer that works.
References :
Victim of social anxiety disorder, trying my hardest to overcome it.

this is a bit like overcoming claustrophobia in an open meadow, though.

If you're not ready yet to step outside your home, try getting dressed as if you are headed out for an evening of socializing. Next, get logged on to your favorite chatroom site and make it a goal to say "Good evening, AAAAA, how are you doing?" (AAAAA = someone in the chat room) to at least 10 individuals in the room. If you get no response, try a more forward greeting (i.e. how the heck r u, i haven't been in this room in a while, what's happening).

While you chat, have something close by you can easily access that will help you feel calm. When your anxiety rises, type a quick "BRB" then take a few minues to enjoy your "something calm".

btw, pogo.com is a good place to start. if you get too nervous in one of their chat rooms, you can always try playing the game in that room (it's a casual game/chat room site)
