I’d say playing a ‘host’ role. Once you’re a host, you forget about your own needs and care for others. It doesn’t mean that you have to really ‘forget’ your own need but you’d experience selflessness and become aware of how to treat other people nicely and wated them to be happy and then you’ll feel relax and enjoy the company. Self-confidence will grow and loving kindness will arise together with decreasing anxiety.

Especially for adults?

Rhonda Britten’s Fearless Living is an excellent book. It has exercises in it like a work book to help you sort out your thoughts and feelings. You can get it at your library for free and do the work book portion on a separate sheet of paper or buy the book online:

I’ve read it several times and it’s just terrific in helping you figure out what you’re so afraid of in life and giving you the tools to put an end to that fear. social anxiety is all about fear.

Does anyone have any personal experiences of hypnotherapy?

My wife found it very effective.

She’s practicing it now and has stopped smoking as well.

Recently she also took up an online course which she says is very good.

Instead of fighting my anxiety, trying to treat it and using whatever other methods that haven’t worked for me in the past, I’m now embracing, accepting and loving my social anxiety. And not only that, I’m also asking for more social anxiety! Yep! I try to get myself in awkward situations that used to dread, I try to sounds dumb, I try to stutter, I try to sound awkward…I try to look mean, bored, uninteresting, I’m looking for ways to provoke my social anxiety whenever I go out now.

uncomfortableness just taking action? I mean not thinking about situations, just going ahead and doing them? Jobs, clubs everything?

When i was 13 to 16, i faced major anxiety, to a point where i didn’t even want to go out.

From personal experience, you need to fake the confidence until you gain it, and tell your self it’ll be fine. Think about someone thats close, mum, dad, boyfriend. If you don’t sort it out, you’ll always have fears, they’ll eventually take over your life, if not sorted.

Just get on with life, your just another human being, there are millions of people just like you, that think different and have a great life, regardless of appearance and anything else.

My thoughts on, and how have overcome social anxiety and negative thoughts. CBT is what I use and it is very very good at helping you think more positively and just feeling better overall. Give me some feedback!
