I’m looking for some graphs or charts that are focused on Social Phobia, also known as social anxiety, in Children. I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me out.
Thanks,
Kay.
while not a graph, this does give percentages….it also goes into the rationale of the different types of anxiety in children and ways to overcome it

I think I might have social anxiety disorder, but I don’t want to go talk to a therapist and find out it’s just shyness. that would be embarrassing.
I am not an expert, but I have been diagnosed with social phobia. Are you scared to go into stores because you can’t handle interacting with the person at the register? Do you feel like it’s your job to make a restaurant’s waitstaff feel good/happy? Are you scared to call people on the phone? Are you scared to answer the phone? Do you avoid almost everyone you know? If you are "shy" around people you have known for a long time, then that is a good indication as well. If you feel worn out from taking care of people’s emotions, then that may also be a sign of social anxiety. Do you have a fear of what people will think of you? Even strangers? Are you scared to be yourself? Do you feel like you need to put a face on when interacting with people? Like you may be having the worse day of your life, but you act like the happiest, most outgoing person when talking to the person selling you a movie ticket? If you answer yes to some of these questions, then you are probably more likely to have social anxiety then be shy. Being shy means you are slow to warm to people, but once you do then you feel at ease. Good luck!

What treatment would you recommend for social anxiety disorder? It’s gotten to the point where I can barely function socially.
I used to see a psychologist but then moved to a new location, and with school and work, I don’t have time/money to visit someone regularly — especially at Manhattan prices.
Are there any home-remedies I could try? I really can’t afford to see a psychologist at the moment and my insurance doesn’t cover it.
The more you expose yourself to social situations the more relaxed you will become in that kind of environment. Start off with small gatherings of 4-5 people and then move up to a few dozen and the eventually a large event with hundreds or even thousands of people.

Anxiety BC – http://anxietybc.com/index.php
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is an anxiety disorder. Children and teens with GAD worry excessively and uncontrollably about daily life events.
Key Points:
* Although younger children can show signs of excessive worry, children usually develop GAD at about 12 years old.
* Girls are more likely to have GAD than boys. In fact, 2 out of every 3 children with GAD are girls.
* Almost half of children with an anxiety disorder will continue to suffer from an anxiety problem when they are adults.
* Many children with GAD also have other anxiety problems. The most common problems are social anxiety, depression, separation anxiety, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
